Right now I'm reading Tales of The Greek Heroes, by Roger Lancelyn Green, and he is very good. I've read Percy Jackson, too, and familar names pop up, to which I smile (or frown- depending) for names like Hesperides, Minotaur, Procrustes, Hercules, Pan...
There seems to be an excess of beautiful maidens and brave princes and adventuresome heroes in those days, like in King Arthur's days, where you step out of your front door with your coffee and thirteen different adventures land upon your head and clamor for your attention. Too bad things aren't this way now. Really. I haven't had one adventure, ever. I just went outside, too. Approximately cero landed on my head.
Two of my friends at school, a boy that I hate, and I are the only people in the entire year that have read Percy Jackson! It's a bestseller, won the- the Caudill, I think? and is a worldwide phenomenon, and there's one stupid school in the world that spoils it for everyone.
My newer friend wore her 'Camp Half-Blood' homemade shirt today, and we walked around lying to everyone.
Everyone: Camp Half-Blood...what's that?
My Friend or/and Me: It's a summer camp.
Everyone: What do you do there?
My Friend and/or Me: Oh, you know, the usual stuff...archery, rock climbing...it's really fun.
Oh, I love in-jokes! The only problem is what if they read the books?
Additionally, for a little bit of HP, it's Hogwarts's First Day of School! And my cousin's birthday!
Quote for Tuesday, September 1, 2009, My Cousin B's Birthday!:
Birthdays are just nature's way of telling us to eat more cake.
