Be Useless

I found this, 'this' being the Official Crayola Website. On the Official Crayola Website, you can digitally color with crayons!
The hyperlink takes you right to the page, I think.
This is my lovely drawing. (Don't laugh. Please. Please don't laugh.)

Yes, that is a rocket ship. I do not have good digital drawing skills.
It's a...colorful picture. I think that's the most that can be said for it.

Fairy Lights

Today is the Ultimate Shopping Day, Black Friday. It's the day when people wake up at midnight and wait outside the shops, then wrestle each other for 50% off everything in the entire store.
Last year, people died from being trampled outside the stores.
And shopping is girly, K? Really? I'd like to see you strangle people for a sweater.
(It had better be a lovely sweater.)
I've never done this shopping thing though. I'm not quite sure whether I would like to, actually. It seems a little obsessive, but there's also a weird, creepy thrill that comes from being outside a store in the middle of the night, clutching your coupons to you madly, elbowing that lady wearing the hat in the ribs so you can get ahead of her.
Then, twelve minutes later, you're fighting her for the sweater.
I enjoy this time of the year. It's kind of like everyone is making a huge, manic, last-ditch effort to do things, but kind of giving up at the same time, because another year is about the corner and you have a huge slot of time in which you can mess things up to your heart's content.
The scary thing is I remember last year so well. The year drags until my birthday (May 11th! I'm waiting for the doodle!), or the summer or something, and then you're back at December again wondering if you did anything productive at all. (For me? No.)
But I can remember writing 2009 very excitedly upon my Story-Writing Binder. Now it is like this:
FRAS
2008
2009
And the idea that soon I will have to write 2010 underneath it and I haven't finished my Vinnialia story yet is sad.
But it's still November. I have time,
right?
I can totally finish a story in that time! I'm not the slowest writer I know!
On a happier note, my neighborhood is filled with Christmas decorations! It looks so pretty, looking out at night... even if those eejits had everything decorated last week...

Life

This is the author JOHN GREEN. He is cool. He is really, really funny, and so is Hank Green, his song-writing, corn-dog-eating brother.
Another thing that's cool is the UNIVERSE in GENERAL.
On this video, note the date- March 15.
Note 2:57-3:07.
I'll finish the song!
That's K's birthday!
How the world works!
Look at all these exclamation points!
I mean, exclamation points.

FRAS

My nickname, comprised of my intials, is FRAS. It sounds cool to me, like a flower. Fras.
I did a search on my nickname (http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/FRAS), and look at this:
  • Frame Relay Access Support (Cisco)
  • Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society
  • Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society
  • Federal Reserve Automation Services
  • Frame Relay Access Server
  • Four Rivers Audubon Society
  • Florida Resident Assistant Seminar
  • Free-Rocket Antisubmarine
  • Force Recording & Analysis System (chiropractic treatment)
  • Florida Resident Assistant Symposium
What you never knew about Freedom R.A.S.:
She IS, yes indeed, a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. (No, not really.) (I could be, but I'm not a fellow.)

Fear of...

I found this thing called 'The Phobia List.' I have always wanted one of these. I have wanted someone to just compile a dictionary of this, put it in book form, publish it for all the world to see. Have they? I wouldn't know.
The gorgeous, prayer-answering site has the weirdest, sometimes most redundant phobias ever.
Nudophobia- Fear of nudity
Chirophobia- Fear of hands
Cathisophobia- Fear of sitting
Euphobia- Fear of hearing good news
Bacteriophobia- Fear of bacteria
And the classics:
Phobophobia- Fear of phobias
Sesquipedalophobia- Fear of long words

I once saw a movie where a guy was afraid of EVERYTHING. How is that possible? How do you live if you're frightened of everything you meet? It must be awful.

THINGS I'M SCARED OF:
Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns
Didaskaleinophobia- Fear of going to school
Arithmophobia- Fear of numbers
Scopophobia or Scoptophobia- Fear of being seen or stared at
Phalacrophobia- Fear of becoming bald

SCARE OF THE DAY:
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia- Fear of the number 666
Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia- Fear of long words

I almost fainted. What's fear of fears that have names that are too long?

Quote for Saturday, September 26, 2009:
A timid person is frightened before a danger, a coward during the time, and a courageous person afterward.
-Johann Paul Friedrich Richter

Muse for Today:
The Phobia List, of course! Fear, oddly enough, inspires me today. Like fear of my teachers if I don't finish my homework.

Facebook + Peer Pressure = Mess

i am typing today without capitalizing anything except names. i have envied people who can do this without going completely crazy.
i keep on pressing the shift button, and feel like i should be using abbreviations like 'w/o' and 'b/c' which is weird because I don't do that.
I GIVE UP.
My friends in general are Facebook-ing, Twitter-ing, AIM-ing, Photobucket-ing, texting, be-ing so generally tech savvy that it's darling and makes me want to throw up. A blog and an e-mail account are about as tech-y as I'm getting, O Waves of Peer Pressure! So go home, using your high-falootin' GPS! I'll be here, using PAPER and PENCIL! Or at least a keyboard that's a normal size! *blows raspberry*
Of course I'm not an advocate for the good old days, I'm as bad as anyone else. I have no idea how I'd live without a computer/iPod/phone. Even TV. How would I watch Ace of Cakes?
Enough of that. Book I'm reading right this moment- The Orpheus Obsession. It's quite good, the main character, Anooshka, thinks in a different way. The way this author writes, Dakota Lane, makes grit and dust and lime green sparkles seem like fairy dust. This one made-up place, called Constellation, seems like dark magic, the stars so close, just waiting there for you to see.
Well, my round up for today is done. I have karate and homework to do, so I will leave you.

Muse for Today:
I've decided that a 'Muse' for me will sometimes be a real and actual Muse, and sometimes, like today, it will just be something else. What makes me think? Today it's The Orpheus Obsession, by Dakota Lane.

P.S. Today's the fiftieth post. I guess that's a landmark?

I Am Epic Fail

Unanswerable Question for the day: Shoot. I forgot.
I'll come back.
Cash Cab and Ace of Cakes are my two favorite shows. Maybe because they're reality TV...but not? I hate real reality TV. I have tried watching them, oh I really have, but they bore me so much! Cash Cab is nice because it takes place in a taxi cab, plus it's a quiz show, and I'm not sure about Ace of Cakes. Maybe because....because they make cake. What other reason does one need?
Now that I have introduced by talking about television, of all the limely things, I will try and find a topic to speak of.
[awkward silence]
Oh, for Pete's sake.
Oh, discussion topic! At school, my friends and I are making it a point to 'discuss' one topic a day. Today, I brought up the question- is a hallway considered a room? We found out no, it's not, and we agreed the most random state discussion (also brought up by me!) is best.
We should also agree that this discussion is not. I'm going to end it right here.
Quotes for the Second Ever Podcast Friday, September 4, 2009:
One of television’s great contributions is that it brought murder back into the home, where it belongs.
and
Seeing a murder on television can…help work off one’s antagonisms. And if you haven’t any antagonisms, the commercials will give you some.

Secret Keeper

I am back from school, thank goodness, because I thought I would go crazy because of another second of superficiality. And a certain person in one of my classes would do well to know that I am not the teacher! If you want to know about a worksheet, I can't pull it out of my ears! Go find the teacher!!!
Oh, I've started this out on a completely unrelated note. I wanted to tell you about one of my friends, and that she told me a secret!
It's a ridiculous secret, but in school, so many things happen that make me wonder that it's nice to know something no one else knows. Or maybe (probably) someone else does know. Blast.
I get that sometimes, though. People tell me secrets, ask me for advice, like Worksheet Fellow, and sometimes, like Ol' Worksheet Guy, I can just say "GO ASK THE TEACHER, YOU IDIOT, I DON'T KNOW!" but sometimes it's much, much harder. Sometimes one friend will tell me their reservations about another friend, and I'll hear and see two different sides, and I don't know what to think anymore. I go to other people for my advice, like my mother, for example, not neccesarily my friends, but they go to other people. Who go to other people. Who get on talk shows and get their advice there. But even they get advice from someone!
Who does everyone get their advice from, tell their secrets to? Is there just an old wiseperson who knows everything about everything? Or is it all in a circle and, indirectly, the talk show hosts get their advice from me?
Quote for Wednesday, September 2, 2009:
When your mother asks, "Do you want a piece of advice?" it is a mere formality. It doesn't matter if you answer yes or no. You're going to get it anyway.

Skip This Post If You're In a Bad Mood

I have overcome my depressed state. Yes, school starts tomorrow, but there's nothing I can do about it. So.
I have always scorned watching pointless videos on YouTube even though I frequently have, but I no longer do, because as I say this as I have an interest in watching a video of someone from MuggleNet eat five Big Macs because of a 'thank you' for a fundraiser. It's disgusting, but interesting. 2500 calories altogether! I have never seen the end, and I hope he doesn't vomit. Yuck.
Jamie: Why are we doing this again?
Andrew: To thank all the people that donated.
Jamie: Well, I could have just written them a card...
My friends troll through YouTube and send me random videos, some of which are completely pointless, like Redheads Protest Wendy's and the song about where the chapstick is, and some which were nice, like The Duck Song.
What a pointless post. I have nothing to say, and my rambling often makes people angry. If I have nothing to say, then I should just not speak!
But that would make people angry too, so I just pick one depending on what day it is.

Broken Glasses

Just to give you an adequate image of me, I wear glasses. I have for quite a long while, and if it goes on getting any worse I shall be blind. That would be awful! How would I read? How would I blog? How would I get to MuggleNet? How would I know when people are laughing at me? I wouldn't! My Auspicious End-of-August Resolution will be to take care of my glasses, because I broke them again the other day.
What I was doing with my glasses broken was wandering around the backyard, being a zombie. Zombies don't need to see. They need to be weird and awkward, and I am accomplished at both. I was avoiding K as I perfected my zombie walk, because he was attempting golf with a baseball bat, and I knew it might not end well for anyone.
I was attacking an innocent village of weeds when I was hit with a golf ball. I then decided to turn my life around, right then and there! I became...an artist!
I drew large, colorful pictures with a tub of Crayola chalk! They were good enough to see without visual aid.
Then, of course, it started to rain and my life's work was washed away. I advise all budding artists not to use chalk outside unless you want your hopes and dreams to be gone in an instant of ten-second showers!
I am getting new glasses today, and wish me luck-I hope my power doesn't go up.

Fang: “She offered to cook breakfast.”

Nerve-Wracking Wednesday and Terrifying Thursday

I hope everyone appreciates the title. You have no idea how long it took me to type that. Sad, isn't it? My mad typing skills? (I have decided from this sentence on I will not backspace anything, just so you can see how bad I am at typing.)
Well, yesterday was, of course, Wednesady (#1) I mean, Wednesday, and I had a recital. Yes, that means I sing solo for the vert (#2) I meam (#3) I MEAN the very first time in front of people. Alone. By myself. In front of people. Yipes.
And, of course, K insisted upon tapig (#4) taping it on the new video camera I won! Yes, I actually won something in a raffle!!! For the first time in my life! YES!
Other people liked how I sang, but I listebed (35 (#5 and #6)) listened to myself on the recording and I sounded awful. I sang the ABBA song "The Winner Takes It All" and it is a lovely song. Just not with my voice. (I don't speak in front of people, I don't talk (#77 (#7 and #8)) sing in front of people voluntarily.) I was shaking. But it's over.
Today was day one of math classes at the high school, and I ws (#9) was scared again, my stomach was in knots, but it was fine. As I have learned from The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, eigthm (#10) eigh (#11) eighth graders are ignored by high schoolers. So that was fine as well. No homework.
I am doon (#12) done with my experimenr (#13) experiment. Thirteen mistakes, for me, is not bad.

Random, Completely Uncalled For Explaination

I have decided to explain the name of my blog, Everlasting_Freedom. This is because soon, I will have no time to do anything whatsoever, and I had better explain right now.
The first one is obvious. My name. I used to think about what it would be like to be immortal. When I was younger, I really wanted to be. As I grew up, I thought that it would be scary and boring to live forever. So maybe I could be Everlasting in a different way? I have no idea.
Next is, of course, a story I began! In that story, a character, named Ferne, started a blog. She used a fake name, Freedom R.A.S. Her username, for everything, was everlasting_freedom. I wanted to use that somehow, so I named my blog Everlasting_Freedom. I don't write about freedom, but I think the name is lovely. And someone who does want to write about actual freedom is free to use it.
I will be very surprised if anyone really cares about this, but it's just one more thing you know. You can brag about this fact, that you know why my blog is named thus, and cause general confusion, if you want. I would be extremely pleased.

Songs in a Circle

I am sorry I've not been blogging for several days. I'll catch up on posts, hopefully. The only disadvantage is that there won't be any quotes for those days. Ah well. Maybe I'll do several quotes today.
I am one of those random people who always has a certain song or fifty-three million playing in my head all at the same time. Lately, it's been Harry and the Potters, and their song We Save Ron's Life, Part 8. Very amusing. He does save Ron a lot. (Look! Even my music is Harry Potter related!)
What I find horrible is when a song is awful, just horrid-ness put to music, and you can't get it out of your head! Or the lyrics are awful, or something, and it's like glue. Gah! Some of these songs come from my brother, of course, because our tastes are so different it's just irritating. (He enjoys game shows when people fall off of large objects and into vanilla pudding. He watches them religiously and will cry if he misses it. I don't. Enough said.)
Sometimes though, it's very useful to have some mindless music going on in your head all the time, because if someone is bullying you (say, making you walk across a large object under which there is a whole mess of vanilla pudding) or yelling at you (about having vanilla pudding on your new shirt), you can play some song, and nothing but the lyrics will register.
Of course, if you begin to sing the song out loud (yes, I've done that) you could get into trouble, but playing a song in a loop in your head is convenient and completely useful.
Quote for Some Day I Missed:
Music makes one feel so romantic - at least it always gets on one's nerves - which is the same thing nowadays.
-Oscar Wilde

Contests

I hate contests.
Namely, sweepstakes. Why, you ask? Because, my dear sirs and madams, I never win. It's awful not to let me win. If you are thinking about sweepstaking something utterly cool, don't even bother anymore. Just send the prize/prizes to me. Like an espionage mission, we can switch suitcases.
This sweepstake in question was, of course, a Harry Potter sweepstake. (Is it sweepstake or sweepstakes? Is sweepstakes a plural or a normal non-plural word? These are the questions that haunt me....) And it wasn't just one prize, it was several! I had so many chances, and yet I didn't get one. Grrrrr. And even if I had one, chances were I never would have used it, but now we'll never know, will we?

Alter-Egos

Have you ever been an alter-ego? Have you ever had one? If you haven't, they're very amusing. Like mine, an evil mastermind named Athena Endene! She lives normally, but takes revenge on all who anger her!!
(So when I am being her, pass the salt without complaint. Clean my room. Do my homework.)
She's very useful, though, seeing as she enjoys math and I do not. She can do my Kumon while I do the plotting of dastardly deeds!
(Of course, I know she's not real, but don't burst my bubble.)
