There were two boys fighting, and when boys fight it turns into a fist-fight pretty soon, in my experience, so what happens?
One pushes the other, right into this tiny little girl.
They both fall, the boy on top of the girl, and, of course, the guy doesn't even stop to say sorry. It was a bad fall, the girl has tears streaming down her face. I say, "Are you okay?" even though anyone could see she's clearly not. She nods yes.
A group of the boys, who usually shove younger kids across the bus just to get to 'their seats' at the back come up. They make the boy apologize to her and ask her if she's okay. (They also tell him not to swear about this. Yay!)
This is what makes me hate my school. We are a lousy bunch of hypocrites, so capable of acting mean to each other, but that's just it-acting. I suppose we all could be really nice to each other- we just don't try. Or care. Or both. Most likely both.
For any other school, this would be a really small experience, but at my school, it's pretty important. Especially considering how my year behaves the rest of the time.
This was the other part that made me think. Last week, two boys put tape in my hair, and they laughed about it. (Did I mention I hate my school?) One of the boys was the boy who fell. The other made him do the apologizing.
Hmm.
Quote for Tuesday, September 8, 2009:
"We are all hypocrites. It is in our very nature to be so. So much so that even our protestation of hypocrisy is, in itself, patently hypocritical."
